I wrote a Post the other day about Independence for Scotland, and today to my delight there was a report item on Sky News about how English people who were polled support the idea of Independence for Scotland.
56% in England said they thought it was time to break up the Union
41% of Scots were in favour of independence.
If the SNP get a majority in the elections they plan to hold a referendum on the issue.
Will the UK flag look like this in the future?
Of course the level of interest in Scottish independence must raise the issue of the total dissolution of the Act of Union, it becomes irrelevant, and thus does the status of Northern Ireland, which will be hard pushed to exist on its own, so maybe the prospect of a re union with the rest of it’s geographical and cultural island can take place, of course this will have to be done with full consent from all parties, and some sort of federal or Irish act of Union will have to take place perhaps, a new name even…..like the United Island of Ireland?

Labour will be busy today stuffing ballot boxes and diverting postal votes! Dont underestimate just how brutally cynical the political establishment(clique) of the British State is,Irish have plenty experience of that in recent centuries!
Perhaps I will be wrong in this - I live in hope but I am not getting those hopes up! Perhaps I will wake up on Friday morning to a new dawn in Scotland but I doubt it! The Brit State still has an economic and strategic inteest in being in Scotland and that scres me!
Labour in particular cant afford to lose Scotland as that is its staple supply of ballot box fodder! The Big boys and girls in London still want to play with the G8 and keep the veto at UN and have trinkets to trade with the Euro Peasants as they see it!
Hi Iain, I also hope but am aware of the underlying dark side to politics, power is hard to let go of. Tony Blair doesn’t want to let go, Gordon Browne wants his go at 10 Downing St. and the UK establishment has more to lose than gain internationally.
Unfortunately Scotland is been and has been held in subjugation by English and Scottish politicians in London, but perhaps the tide is changing and change will come before too long.
Sweden would never have let Norway out of the Union they had in 1905 had the oil and gas wealth been understood better, England has enjoyed the wealth provided by Scotlands resources. Time for a change.
All the best.
