He showed me the text in Bowditch, to reassure me, there was so much piss-taking and practical jokes on that ship that staging the so well named "green flash" was very probable. I had maybe seen it once or twice before getting to my last ship. That one spent almost all it's time in and around the middle east and there we saw it all the time. You really have to see it to truly appreciate it. Bowditch of course is the reference to go to for winning bets that the sun turns green! Searching for the green flash seems to be a persistant hobby for the 4-8 watch for obvious reasons.
