Hi Buck, thanks! It was handheld against the bridge window, I pressed the lens against the glass of the window and held it tight as I pressed the shutter release! This is one of about 5 attempts, all were not as good.

Nice job with the lateral thinking. I bet living the way you do brings you into contact with more languages than most. Keeps the mind young!

Welcome to the club of "straight thru"! Seems like Grangemouth locks are the only one´s that can hail that flag of smooth lock sailing.
Anyhow, you now have an experience to tell the pilots whenever you are entering any looks in the world and boy, are the amazed?

I lived about 20mins outside of Falkirk for about 6 months, going 15 years back. I wish like hell I'd seen anything like The Wheel. Wish I had spent more leisure time outside of a pub.

Straight through?! The tide must have been very close to the lift. Amazing. Wonderful photos too. Pity you didn't make the Wheel whilst it was in operation. Maybe next time.

Great to see you back Tim. Sounds like you gave Hank the Yank a lesson in manners alright. Sounds too like you are exiting the Bristol Channel, passing N of Lundy. I suppose you don't worry too much about real and apparent wind speed ;-)

Arport connections are a major stressor. My son flew in to Dublin from JFK lately, and was trying to catch a Ryanair to Kerry with a twenty minute window to do it. It wouldn't have been the end of the world if he'd missed it, but as he left the Delta his name was getting last call on the PA - he sprinted and made the door as it was closing. He topped it off by doing the same trick in Kerry, just getting off the plane and the bus as it left - so he arrived home in West Limerick on foot seven hours after leaving JFK, not bad?
